Vietnam, the world’s number 2 producer had about 20 percent of the world production, Indonesia with 8 percent and Brazil had 34 percent.
Japan was the largest Asian market with about 480,000 tons in 2016. South Korea has 167,000, and Malaysia has 117,000 tons.
Among the ASEAN peers, the Philippines had the lowest output and minimal export.
