The Philippines and France have signed a cooperation agreement on agriculture that seeks to further intensify scientific and commercial exchanges between the two countries.
According to the French Embassy in Manila, the agreement was signed by Agriculture Secretary Emmanuel Piñol and French Embassy Chargé d’Affaires, a.i. Laurent Legodec at the conclusion of the French-Philippine Forum on Agriculture.
The French embassy said the agreement establishes the Joint Agricultural Steering Committee (JASC) to facilitate interactions between stakeholders from France and the Philippines and to enhance bilateral cooperation in areas such as the promotion of the diversity and quality of agricultural products, the development of policies on food safety and sanitation, the development of the livestock sector, and the promotion of sustainable agricultural practices.
