CONVENIENCE STORES, often known as corner shops or C-stores, are small-format retail establishments that offer basic goods to customers who lack the time to visit supermarkets or make last-minute purchases.

Convenience stores differ from supermarkets primarily in terms of size, offerings, and purpose. C-stores are typically smaller, located in easily accessible areas like neighborhoods or gas stations, and cater to quick, on-the-go purchases. They stock a limited range of items such as snacks, beverages, basic groceries, and everyday essentials, often at slightly higher prices due to their convenience. Supermarkets, on the other hand, are much larger and offer a wider variety of products, including fresh produce, meats, household goods, and specialty items. They are designed for planned, bulk shopping and are usually located in shopping centers or standalone locations.

While C-stores prioritize speed and accessibility, there are pros and cons. Their accessibility and extended hours make them ideal for last-minute purchases or emergencies, offering a quick shopping experience with minimal crowds and shorter checkout lines. However, their higher prices and limited product selection, especially for fresh items, can be restrictive for shoppers seeking variety or bulk options.

Nonetheless, these small-format retailers were among the pandemic-resilient industries, and their post-pandemic growth was particularly noteworthy. Retailers of essential goods, including supermarkets, groceries, and C-stores, managed to withstand the challenges as they were permitted to remain operational during the enhanced community quarantine.
