The Ministry of Agricultural and Rural Development sees Vietnamese coffee with great potential as its exports have increased this year.
International Coffee Organization executive director Jose Sette sees a huge potential on VN coffee as demands grow especially in countries like China, India and Indonesia as these countries have big populations with a big number of young people.
Vietnam is the second largest coffee exporter despite several problems like small scale of production, ageing coffee trees, poor quality control, and outdated processing technologies.
With these problems, the ministry plans to enhance coffee replanting programmes, research new high-quality seedlings, invest more on roasted and ground coffee and soluble coffee, building brands for Vietnamese coffee and speed up trade promotions in local and foreign markets
